Supporting Community Organizations
Donations are always accepted for the Mission Team and it's initiatives. Physical items can be placed in the marked bins within the Mission Team cabinet in Weidner Hall. Monetary donations can be made through offering envelopes by marking "Mission Team" in the "Other" section.
Item Collection Drives
Item Collection Drives
Various special items are collected, in addition to the monthly food "collection item", that support local organizations with various causes. A list of these collections and the organization they support (if applicable) is available to the below.
Active Item Collection Drives:
Eye glasses for the Muhlenberg Lions Club
Coupons (including recently expired ones) to send to military families stationed in Guam, covering all branches of the military
- Military families can use coupons up to six months after the listed expiration date
Calendars with pictures for Alzheimer unit patients
- This is a partnership with Friedens Lutheran Church
Unused greeting cards to support the Caring Connections card ministry
Used Inkjet printer cartridges for a recycling fundraiser program
New or gently used clothing and shoes for Kennedy House
Egg cartons (any material) for a local farm stand
Special Offerings
Special Offerings
Each month, different community organizations are designated for special offerings. These organizations range in topics and types of service, but they each provide some sort of resource to our local community.
Friedens UCC also collects special offerings to support the UCC's four Special Mission Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen The Church, Neighbors In Need, and The Christmas Fund) and Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM). Friedens UCC has a history of being a 5 for 5 church because of the strong support the congregations provides for these special offerings.
Below is an outline of the special collections for each month of the year for 2024.
Information about specific month's special offerings will be updated as it becomes available, however the monthly causes generally remain the same from year to year.January
