Committees & Groups

Please Note: Consistory leadership positions and position titles of employees are denoted in the membership listing for all committees and groups when the information is applicable to the committee or group.

Constitutional (Standing) Committees

These groups are all standing committees of the church, and are established and required per the current version of the Constitution of the church. Learn more about these groups by reviewing the church's Governing Documents which can be found on the "Governing Documents" page.

Christian Education (Sunday School) Committee

The Christian Education Committee (CEC) is tasked with leading all educational programs within the life of Friedens UCC. This includes, but is not limited to, Sunday School, Vacation Bible school (VBS), Confirmation classes, and Bible Study.

Per the church's Constitution, "The Committee shall develop and maintain the total Christian Education ministry of the church."

Property Committee

The Property Committee is tasked with the maintenance and upkeep of the building and property owned by Friedens UCC. Various duties fall into this category including the promotion of accessibility, yard work, and more.

Per the church's Constitution, the committee "shall develop policy recommendations for the use of the church buildings, grounds, and facilities, as well as recommend and initiate property and equipment repairs and replacements."

Music & Worship Committee

The Music & Worship Committee is charged to "provide a music program for all ages and provide guidance for choirs," per the church's Constitution. This effort is collaborative between committee members, the Pastor, and the Director of Music (if applicable).

Without a weekly choir or settled Director of Music, this committee is planning music selections for every worship service including hymns, guest musicians, and special musical offerings.

Evangelism Committee (Inactive)

In recent history, this group's duties have been handled by Consistory and members of the staff and has not been a true committee in the way described in the church's Constitution.

The Evangelism Committee is tasked with keeping the church active and to have information updated regularly.

Per the church's Constitution, "The Committee shall be responsible for maintaining and following up on the Sunday attendance registrations, updating the church brochure, and for certain mailings."

Budget & Stewardship Committee (Inactive)

In recent history, this group has been working as a subset of the Consistory and has not been a true committee in the way described in the church's Constitution.

The Budget Committee is primarily responsible for preparing a budget each fiscal year. This committee, per the church's Constitution, shall "insure the proper auditing of church accounts, and oversee the investment portfolio of church monies."

Other, Ad-Hoc Committees

These groups are all official committees of the church, however they are established by the Consistory for a defined scope of duties and typically have an assigned timeline for said duties.

Interior Design Task Force

In an effort to redefine Friedens UCC, a project to evaluate and redecorate our church's spaces was established and the Interior Design Task Force was established. This group is tasked with identifying new and welcoming purposes for each of the spaces around the building, as well as proposing new furniture, painting, decorations, etc.

This group will be disbanded when their project of redecorating the church building is completed. This group began in early 2023.

2024 Nominations Committee

Each year, a Nominations Committee is established to begin recruiting nominees for currently vacant and opening positions on Consistory. The church's Constitution outlines that the outgoing members of Consistory are tasked with being apart of this committee and executing this work.

This group will be disbanded once the installation of Consistory members occurs in January 2025. This group is convened annually in the second half of the calendar year.

Groups & Teams

These groups are all informal/ unofficial components of the church, however they each play an integral role in the ministry and life of the church. Their informal status is only related to their establishment, but their contributions to the church's ministry are imapctful.

Technology Team

The Technology Team oversees all things technology for the church. Management of the church's website, virtual worship, social media, etc. are all duties to be executed by this group.

Mission Team

The Mission Team leads community outreach and support programs for the church. This is done in various ways via financial donations, events, programs, and much more. More information about specific intitiaves of the Mission Team can be accessed via the button below.

Women's Guild

The Women's Guild is a very large and active aspect of the life of our church. The group has no official duties, although there are many recuring and annual events that they oversee including shoofly pie sales and the Church Bazaar.

Hoagie Ministry

The Hoagie Ministry runs and organizes the popular once-a-month hoagie sales that occur during a select set of months each year. More information about the specifics of hoagie sales and the work of the Hoagie Ministry can be accessed via the button below.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is tasked with assisting the Music & Worship Committee in the preparation of worship spaces. This often includes seasonal changes with the liturgical calendar and the organization of materials for special services and the celebration of communion. Organization and preparation of communion elements is a regular duty of the Altar Guild.
