Rev. Dr. Jon A. Fogle

Pastor Jon, as he prefers to be called, comes to the Oley Valley from Annville, where he was administratpr for The Lebanon Valley Home of the United Church of Christ Homes.

Jon's previous pastoral experience includes 11 years as pastor of Salem United Church of Christ in Campbelltown.  Prior to going to Salem, he served as a part-time chaplain in a long-term care facility in Lancaster, and as a part-time chaplain for Lancaster General Hospital's trauma and emergency departments.  He has participated in his local association and conference, as well as in ecumenical activities.  He has served his community as Cub Scout Master, Fire Company Chaplain, and middle-school tutor.  He has served as the Chair of the Committee on Ministry for the East Berks Association of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference, UCC; and on the Personnel committee of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference.

Jon has published articles in the Christian Century and PRISM: A Theological Forum of the United Church of Christ.  Jon's educational background is extensive.  He earned a Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.

More importantly, Jon is a person of deep faith and strong character.  He describes his leadership style as collaborative - he supports the development of strong lay leadership.  Pastor Jon is married to Rebecca Gerhart Fogle (who likes to be called Becky), and they have three sons Paul, Thomas, and Andrew.  Becky is the Director of Special Education, 9-12, for the Souderton Area School District.

In his spare time, Reverend Jon enjoys woodworking projects and fly fishing.  In her spare time, Becky plays the viola.
